The Communications Division has an authorized strength of 23 persons who are assigned to one of four watches to ensure 24/7 coverage. Watch I, II and III each have a Supervisor, and have an Officer in Charge (OIC) who serves as an Acting Supervisor in the absence of a Shift Supervisor. Watch IV overlaps Watches II and III.


During calendar year 2018, the Communications Center answered over 213,000 telephone calls, including 45,524 E-911 calls. Of the total calls received, 72,974 calls resulted in dispatch for police service, 12,767 for fire services and emergency medical services. The remaining 167,480 calls were for requests for information or non-emergency police or fire services.
